For about ten years, Pieter worked as a skipper on dolphin cruises in Walvis Bay - watching the sea, reading the weather, and getting to know the rhythms of coastal life. But slowly, the desert started calling. He began taking a few guests into Sandwich Harbour, just part-time at first. And then one day, he decided that’s where he belonged -barefoot in the dunes, full-time. That’s when Sandy Horizon was born. We’re still a small company, just doing what we love. Pieter’s passion for Namibia runs deep - from its land to its wildlife, and everything in between. With years of experience at sea and on sand, he brings a quiet kind of knowledge to each journey, rooted in care, curiosity, and real connection.

We keep our groups intentionally small - with no more than 4 guests per vehicle and a maximum of 4 vehicles per group unless specifically requested otherwise. This means less waiting, more space, and a more relaxed, personal experience for everyone.
We don’t force wildlife sightings or chase animals for photos. Everything we do is guided by quiet respect - for the land, the animals, and the silence in between.

Your safety always comes first. All our guides are experienced, fully licensed, and trained in First Aid. Whether we’re on the dunes or at the coast, you’re in capable hands every step of the way.

We take great care in maintaining our fleet - every vehicle is fully insured, regularly serviced, and meticulously checked. Every vehicle we use is one we’d put our own family in.
